Making her feature film debut as Isabella Montgomery – Inge’s portrayal of a young upper class English lady with an oppressive secret is receiving great attention and critical acclaim with the Hollywood Reporter calling her a “…Lovely newcomer…”. and garnering a Best Actress nomination at the New Zealand Film Awards 2012.
South African born Actress Inge Rademeyer immigrated to New Zealand with her family when she was 15. As a performer from an early age, she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Film, TV & Media Studies and Theatre & Drama Studies at Auckland University receiving a scholarship in acting. Also during this time she worked as a contemporary dancer with Black Grace's youth dance company for four years. After university Rademeyer studied Meisner part-time and acted in various short films before making her big screen debut in Good for Nothing.
Having spent the last seven years working at Academy Award winning visual effects studio Weta Digital, Rademeyer has learned about the filmmaking business at a world-class level. It was a natural progression to combine film production and performance in her debut-acting role in Good for Nothing.
'The film making process excites me as it's such a collaborative art form', she says. 'I'm very lucky to have had exposure to the extremes of the industry from something like Avatar to our low-budget indie.'
For Rademeyer, her dual roles have been doubly beneficial. 'I love the magic of filmmaking, the madness and the camaraderie', she says. 'I've learnt so much as it's unusual for an actress to be involved all the way through. Sitting in the editing suite and learning what works and what doesn't work has been massively beneficial to me.'
Inge Rademeyer on Isabella
'I felt lucky as I inherently knew the script and had been alongside Mike throughout the character development for Isabella. I had known her for a long time. I also know what it feels like to be an immigrant. I have stepped off into a new land not knowing what lies ahead.
Isabella carries so much guilt and she's the product of her social airs and graces but she arrives in this wild place where all that is completely stripped away. She's thrown into the deep end and has to completely let go and become comfortable in her own skin. She's figuring out how to survive under extreme circumstances in a different, physically challenging world.'
